Joy Shellard was born Joy Silvester, in 1928. Living very close to The Westover Ice Rink, in Bournemouth, she and her sister, Paddy, were introduced to skating at an early age. The girls were able to skate nearer to home when, in freezing conditions, their father, curator of The Russell Coates Museum, sprayed the terrace with water.
The Announcement and Entry form is now available for the 2020 British Short Track Championships to be held at Ice Sheffield on the 4th and 5th of January.
Young Stars Finale – Qualification
All skaters will be given a points score following each Young Stars Event (August 19 and March 2020). These scores will be added together to create a total score the lowest scoring 24 skaters who have competed in both events will be eligible for the 2020 Young Stars Finale.
Skater A competes in Beginners in August 19 and comes 5th this will equal 5 points / skater A then competes in level 2 in March 2020 and comes 8th this equals 8 points skater A will be listed as having 13 points for the Young Stars rankings.
Please note that skaters who have taken the level or passed level 4 elements or Free are NOT eligible for the Young Stars Finale.
The 2019 British Figure skating Championships will see the best of the best going for National Glory in Sheffield between the 28th November and the 1st of December.
