Solo Dance – Scale of Values and Levels of Difficulty

NISA have now released the Scale of Values (SoV) for the required elements for both the Solo Original Dance and the Solo Free Dance. This SoV will be used at the British Adult Championships, the second solo dance pilot to be held as part of the Alexandra Palace Solo Dance Series event and at the British Solo Dance Championships.

Information regarding clarification of the Levels of Difficulty has also been published, and again will be used at the events listed above.

It should be noted that all of this information has been written and adapted purely for these events and that, due to the enormity of this project, it will remain a document in progress and a working document for the forseeable future. Changes are not anticipated prior to the BAC event, but the document will be reviewed following this event.

The publication of this information provides the final link in allowing the solo dance events to use the IJS, not withstanding any software issues which arise at the event. NISA are therefore happy to confirm that all events at the BAC (excepting the exhibition events) and the Solo Dance Championships will use the IJS.

A guidance for judges’ document relating to Grade of Execution of elements will be issued very shortly and will also be published on the NISA website.

DANCE OPEN COMPETITIONS - ICE CALCULATION CLARIFICATION

In order to obtain a NISA Permit Results Officials must NOT manually amend the factors on Compulsory Dances to acknowledge the senior dance.

The Ice Calc system MUST be used without any modifications in order to avoid set up errors.

CD only events

Ties after the final calculation of all CDs should be broken manually according to the senior dance as listed in the ISU Regulations 2008 Page 143 Rule 607 and also for non-ISU dances by reference to the order of dances in the NISA test manual. All should be confirmed by the referee of the event.

The printed results should be amended by hand to reflect this determination.

Combined CD and OD/FD events

Ties in the CD must NOT be split as the Ice Calc software will correctly determine any final ties after the OD or FD.

Any tied competitors in the CD should be drawn for the OD or FD according to ISU Regulations 2008 page 161/162 Rule 635-4 (OD) and Rule 635-5 (FD)
