Saturday the 5th May saw the launch of a new Ice Skating Club at Altrincham Silver Blades Ice Rink. This is the first time a Club has been set up since the closure of the old Altrincham Ice Rink, which closed in 2003 after 43 years. The Club is known as Altrincham Silver Blades Figure and Dance Club or AISClub to Facebook users.
It is being run by a Committee of parents and skaters who have volunteered their time to set up a facility for those who wish to advance their skating.
The aim of the Club is to organise workshops, competitions and social events for local Skaters who have some experience and have reached Skate UK Level 8. The Club promises to promote progress, achievement and fun. Skaters can come along and take part in activities which will help develop their skating and build their ambition. The Club is aiming to emulate similar clubs at other ice rinks such as Bradford and Blackburn, which have proved to be popular and highly successful.
